Subject: AIFRTE condemns central government’s move to dispense with SC/ST quota in faculty appointments in the IITs.

"AIFRTE condemns the central government's blatant and unconstitutional instruction to the IIT to dispense with SC/ST quota in faculty appointments. We had cautioned that NEP 2020 with its promotion of so-called 'merit' and no mention of the reservation policy was headed in this direction. We demand immediate withdrawal of the instruction by the government. Reservation policy is a core basis of the principle of social justice and government must publicly re-affirm that it stands by this policy and will fully and sincerely implement it."
